Sat. February 20th, 2016 - RED HIV/AIDS Fundraiser - Commodore Ballroom

Event Producer Dean Thullner was once again center stage at the Commodore Ballroom. Instead of introducing a fashion fundraiser for St. Paul’s mental health program, tonight he was raising money for Positive Living BC. The peer-based wellness program provides services to 5,700 people living with HIV in British Columbia.
The event was quite enjoyable with aspects different from Brilliant. Namely bare chested men, men in stilettos and men in underwear. Sometimes all three at once! The eye catching cage dresses (from Evan Clayton) first appeared on the runway a year earlier. Also there seemed to be more retail clothing sponsors where Brilliant seemed to attract more Designers. To make the night’s event happen, over 200 artists, designers, entertainers, stylists, hair dressers, make-up artists and models volunteered their time. As a result, the cash donation and 50/50 Draw raised over $10,000! This is in addition to ticket sales. Photo: Carolyn Bruce Designs custom necklace for the evening

VALT's mission is to provide an alternative to the commercial fashion and gallery experience, to celebrate and promote the creativity of local unrecognized artists and designers, and to nurture and promote the arts and fashion culture of Vancouver itself. Our core market for VALT is the individual who appreciates the arts and fashion in particular, and is interested in a more immersive, cultural experience than the typical commercial offerings in the fashion and arts experiences.
